Service users interested in accommodation at Tregwilym Lodge are encouraged to visit the Home and observe the atmosphere, meet the staff and view the Home. This gives the service user time to get to know the staff, adjust to new people and surroundings as well as sample the food before committing themselves to a longer stay.
Service users who are assessed to need a lot of support or have challenging behaviour would be admitted to the nursing side only. Service users who have personal care needs with the early onset of Dementia would be admitted to the nursing/residential side. We would ensure that we assess and admit responsibly and that the individual is cared for within the correct environment. The advantage to this is that when a service users needs change from residential to nursing, we would be able to care for them in their normal environment with minimal disruption and with staff who are familiar to them and know their individual needs, which is found to have a positive effect on their well-being . It is known that moving anyone from their familiar surroundings can have a detrimental effect on their emotional well-being.
